Lighthouse Journalism came across an image showing crowds during the recent Jono gorjon sabha, a TMC party rally on social media platforms. During the investigation this image was found to be edited to make the public meeting look jam-packed.
Claim:
X user Trinamool Supporters shared the image on their profile.
Other users too are sharing the image.
Investigation:
We started our investigation by running a reverse image search on the image.
We found an image shared by X user Sudhanidhi Bandopadhyay.
The user had mentioned that the image appeared on Anandabazar Patrika on Page 5 and the image showed less crowd as compared to the one being shared by some social media users.
We then checked the epaper of Anandabazar on 11 March, 2024.
Conclusion: Viral image showcasing a jam-packed Jono gorjon sabha by Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is edited.
