Lighthouse Journalism came across a video being widely shared on social media platforms. The video showed two army personnel arresting robbers. It was being claimed along with the video that the video shows Indian Army personnel arresting robbers. During the investigation we found that the video is not from India but from Bangladesh.

Investigation:
We started our investigation by running reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
We found the video uploaded on Facebook.

We also found the video uploaded on a YouTube channel Friends TV.
The caption stated (translation): Business establishments are being attacked with heavy weapons in Faridpur. What happened after the army arrived—
We also found the video uploaded on Channel 24.
Caption said (translation): Caught by the army while vandalizing and looting shops Faridpur News | Bangladesh Army | Channel 24
We also found the keyframe from this video in a news article uploaded on Rtv.
The article was titled: Caught by the army during shop vandalism, the identity of the two has been found
In the next step of investigation we spoke to senior fact checker from Bangladesh, Tausif Akbar who confirmed that the video is from Bangladesh and features the Bangladeshi Army.
Conclusion: Video from Bangladesh where the army caught two people for vandalism is being falsely shared as that from India. Viral claims are misleading.
