A video is being widely shared on social media platforms where a meteorite can be seen falling on land, it was claimed along with the video, this was a recent incident that happened in Rajasthan. During the investigation we found that the viral claim is false. The video was made digitally and was not captured on the phone.
Claim:
Facebook user Yash Raj shared the video on his profile.

Investigation:
We started our investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool and then obtaining several keyframes from the same. We then ran a reverse image search on these keyframes.
We found the exact same video posted on the YouTube channel titled Unreal vfx.
The six second video was posted ten months ago. The description of the video mentioned: In this video i made some crash scenes with #adobe #aftereffects and you can see what happened if fallen #meteor to #earth
I put very nice vfx and sfx in this video. Thank you for watching.
This confirmed that the video was made using VFX which means visual effects and that the video was not real.
We found another such compilation of the videos on the same channel.
We also found the same video posted by the Instagram account of unreal vfx on March 16.
We also checked for news reports about the same. It was early this year that there were reports of a meteor shower in Rajasthan’s Barmer. There has not been a meteor shower recently in Rajasthan or India.
Conclusion: Video being shared where a meteorite can be seen falling on land claimed to be in Rajasthan is made using VFX. Viral claim is false.
