Investigation:
We started the investigation by obtaining keyframes from the video and then running a reverse image search on the same.
Reverse image search on a keyframe led us to a video on Instagram channel Saini Samaj on August 7.
The location on the video was written as Bangladesh.
We also found a news report that showed a similar location as seen in the video.
The news report was titled: Jubo League-Chhatra League clashes with protesters in Chittagong, BGB deployed
The report mentioned: Three people were killed in the clash between Chhatra League and Jubo League with students protesting for quota reform in Chittagong. Two of these are students; a pedestrian More than half a hundred protestors and Chhatra League-Youth League workers were injured in the clash. BGB has been deployed in Chittagong to control the situation.
We found a similar video on YouTube shorts.
In the next step of investigation we connected with senior fact checker from Bangladesh Tausif Akbar who confirmed that the video is from Chattogram, Bangladesh.
We also checked the location of the video on Google maps and as shown in the video, we searched for a flyover and found the location.
We found a triangular structure on the street near the flyover in Chattogram, which is similar to the one visible in the viral video.
Conclusion: Viral video of protests from Bangladesh is being claimed as recent from Jaipur, India. Viral claim is misleading.
