The Kshatriya Karni Sena has reportedly said that it will give a ₹1.11 crore reward to any policeman who killed jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in an encounter. In a video making the announcement Karni Sena president Raj Shekhawat announced the reward. After this a video was widely shared on social media platforms stating that the people thrashed Karni Sena chief after the announcement, stating that Lawrence Bishnoi is a pride of Hindus. During the investigation we found the claim to be misleading and the video to be old.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.
A reverse image search led us to a news report on punjabkesari.in.
The report published on April 9, 2024 stated that Karni Sena leader Shekhawat was detained before demonstrating at the BJP headquarters. The reports stated that Karni Sena leader Raj Shekhawat, who was on his way to lay siege to the Gujarat headquarters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gandhinagar, was taken into custody by the police outside the Ahmedabad airport on Tuesday.
He was protesting against Union Minister Parshottam Rupala’s comments on the community and the party’s refusal to drop him as a candidate for the Rajkot Lok Sabha seat.
