Lighthouse Journalism found an image of former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru being widely shared on social media platforms. The users claimed that the picture showed PM Nehru taking a holy dip in Kumbh in the past.
During the investigation we found that the image is not from Kumbh, but from 1938 from Prayagraj, then Allahabad when PM Nehru went to immerse his mother’s ashes.

X user Arvind Chotia shared the image with misleading claim.
Other users too are sharing the image with similar claims.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by doing a reverse image search on the viral image.
This led us to a post, suggesting Jawaharlal Nehru was seen immersing his mother’s ashes in Allahabad.
We also found the picture on reckontalk.com.

Conclusion: The viral picture claimed to be of former PM Jawaharlal Nehru from the holy dip at Kumbh, is actually from 1938, when PM Nehru immersed the ashes of his mother in Allahabad. The viral claim is misleading.
