Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms, claiming to show the official residence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the investigation, we found that the video is AI-generated and not real.

Claim:

X user Dr Sheetal Madan shared the viral video with a false claim.

Other users too are sharing the same video with similar claims.

Investigation:

The source of these videos was found to be AAP’s X handle.

In the caption, the handle did not mention that the video was attributed to PM Narendra Modi.

The video looked very smooth; hence, it was clear that this was AI-generated.

We uploaded the video in the InVid tool and got several keyframes.

A few keyframes had the Open AI logo, suggesting that the video could have been made using, ‘Sora’ (Sora is OpenAI’s video generation model, designed to take text, image, and video inputs and generate a new video as an output).

We then broke the video into 20-second video clips and ran it through HIVE Moderation.

The detector found that the video was AI-generated.

Conclusion: The video circulating with claims that it shows the official residence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is AI-generated. The viral claims are false.
