Other users have also shared the video with similar claims.

Investigation:

We started the investigation by uploading the video to the InVid tool and ran a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from it.

This led us to a report by amarujala.com posted on 27th November, 2024.

The report stated (translation): On Monday, in Katra, protesters pelted stones, in protest against the ropeway project, following which the police arrested Goda Pithu and his supporting leaders involved in the protest. These protesters were expressing their displeasure against the ropeway project, and their activities turned violent. The police acted immediately and arrested several leaders, including prominent leader Goda Pithu. The incident caused tension in the city, and the administration took strict action to maintain law and order.

We also found a few reports about the same.

We also found a video from December 2024.

We also found a few video reports about the incident uploaded over five months ago.

The description on this video said: Two labour union leaders were arrested in Jammu’s Katra following the violent clashes between police and traders who were protesting against the proposed ropeway line from Katra town Vaishno Devi Shrine.

And we found the original video that is being shared as recent. The video was posted over five months ago by YouTube channel Jmmu Links News.

Conclusion: An old video showing the arrest of two labour union leaders in Katra is now being shared as recent, linking it with the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack. The viral claims are misleading.
