Lighthouse Journalism came across a video being widely shared on social media platforms. The video featured Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath. He was seen asking PM Narendra Modi about the mangalsutras that the widows of Pulwama attack had lost. During the investigation we found the viral video to be edited. Viral claim is false.

X user Shyam Gupta RPSU shared the viral video on his profile.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a Google keyword search.
We found a news report uploaded on the website of Hindustan Times. The report said, UP CM Yogi had hit back on SP leader Dimple Yadav’s ‘mangalsutra remark’.
A report suggested that the video could have been from Mainpuri.
We did a Google keyword search on the terms and found a video uploaded on the YouTube channel of ANI.
He was addressing a public rally in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh.
At 13 min 32 second time stamp he starts talking about, ‘mangalsutra’. He then goes ahead at around 14 mins 39 second stamp to talk about SP leader Dimple Yadav. He says, “There has been a sarcastic statement on PM Narendra Modi’s mangalsutra remark by an SP leader from here. She is asking Modiji what happened to the mangalsutras of the widows of the Pulwama attack. We also want to ask the Samajwadi Party what about the mangalsutra of the wives of kar sevaks.“
We also found this 38 second video clip on X handle of ANI.
In the viral video the statement in Hindi, ‘Ek hasyaspad bayan samajwadi party ki netri ka aaya, unke dwara kaha jaa araha hai, ki Modiji‘ has been cropped and the edited version has been shared on the social media platforms.
Conclusion: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath did not question PM Narendra Modi on ‘mangalsutra’ remark. Edited video of CM Yogi goes viral. Viral claims are false.
