Amidst the Murshidabad violence due to Waqf Act protests, a video is being widely shared on social media that shows people attacking a policeman.

During the investigation, we found that the video is from 2019 and not recent.

Claim:

X user The Sanatani Emperor shared the video.

Other users are also sharing the same video.

Investigation:

We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the screenshots obtained from the viral video.

During a reverse image search, we found the video on the YouTube channel of ABP ANANDA. The video was uploaded five years ago and has the caption: Local people clash for lori accident in Nabadwip.

A report on abplive.com mentioned: Tension in Nadia’s Nabadwip police station area over the death of a young man riding a bicycle after being hit by a sand-laden lorry, road blockade. Locals scuffle with police.

The report also stated that several policemen were hurt.

Conclusion: An old video from West Bengal’s Nabadwip is now being shared as recent, linking it to the Murshidabad violence amidst Waqf protests. The viral claim is misleading.
