With over 114 arrests in the Nagpur riots, and the chief accused Fahim Khan’s house razed, several videos associated with the night of violence in Nagpur are being shared on social media platforms. One such video shows RSS leader Indresh Kumar attending an Iftar party. It was claimed that the leader attended an Iftar party in New Delhi on the night of the violent incidents in Nagpur.
During the investigation, we found that the claim was false. Video of Kumar attending an Iftar party was before the Nagpur riots.
Claim:
X user Er N B jay prakash shared the video with false claim.
Other users, too, are sharing the same video with similar claims.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on a few keyframes obtained from the video.
This led us to a video posted by News18 India 9 days ago. The video was posted on 16th March 2025
The description said: Iftar party was organized at the Community Center in Delhi … RSS leader Indresh Kumar attended this Iftar party… Indresh Kumar opened Imam Omar Ahmed Ilyasi, Rosa … Indresh Kumar’s arrival in this Iftar party leads the country towards brotherhood … In the meantime, hear what he said on the royalty of vote banks while giving the message …
We also found a video posted on ANI Bharat 10 days ago.
Indresh Kumar had also posted pictures from the event along with the invitation card on Facebook.
The invitation mentioned that the event occurred on Saturday on 15th March 2025, at the Community Centre, Nizamuddin West, New Delhi. The riots broke out in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Monday, 17th March, 2025.
Conclusion: RSS leader Indresh Kumar did not attend an Iftar party on the day of the riots in Nagpur. He attended an Iftar party two days before the riots in New Delhi. The viral claim is false.
