Investigation:
The video clip was from Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony on Monday, January 20, 2025.
We found the live video of the ceremony on the YouTube channel of The White House.
It was around 34 min 05 sec in the 1.5-hour-long live video, that the visuals from the viral clip shared on social media can be seen.
A representative was seen walking at the front, which she did a few times during the ceremony. But before that, a camera person is also seen making her way to the front. The representative spots her and asks her to move to the back. At 35 mins 10 sec, the camera person is seen moving at the back.
Dr S Jaishankar had a front-row seat during the ceremony, as suggested by the pictures he shared on his X handle.
Conclusion: Dr S Jaishankar was not asked by a representative to move towards the back during the swearing-in ceremony of the US President Donald Trump. A camera person standing in front of him was asked to do the same. The viral claim is false.
