We started the investigation by a simple reverse image search on the image. This led us to a report on Deccan Herald updated on 30th November 2023.
The caption said: FILE PHOTO: In this Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2019, file photo, Prime Minister Narendra Modi with former US Secretary of state Henry Kissinger, in New Delhi. Kissinger passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023, at the age of 100. Credit: PTI
The article was published after Henry Kissinger passed away. It said: Henry Kissinger, known for his disdain for India’s leadership in the 1970s, has died at the age of 100, but the well-known American statesman and former secretary of state had been advocating stronger US-India ties for the last one decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On further checking with Google reverse image search, we found the images on ANI’s X handle.
The pictures were uploaded on October 22, 2019.
We also found the viral picture on the X handle of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He too had posted the picture on October 22, 2019.
Conclusion: The viral picture does not show George Soros along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The man seen alongside PM Modi is Dr Henry Kissinger, a well-known American statesman and former secretary of state. The viral claim is misleading.
