On 17 March 2025, communal violence erupted in Nagpur, Maharashtra, India, following demands by right-wing Hindu organizations to remove the tomb of the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Police have booked Fahim Khan, a key accused in Nagpur violence along with five others for sedition. Amidst this a video is being shared on social media platforms claiming to be recent from Nagpur. However, during the investigation we found that the video is unrelated to Nagpur violence.
Claim:
X user Vikas shared the video stating, ‘power of Nagpur’.
Other users too are sharing the video with the same claim.
Investigation:
We found the watermark, ‘@vedantcreation’ on the video. We then searched for the Instagram account.
We found the video posted on the profile of @vedantcreation on December 10, 2024.

The caption stated: Sakal Hindu Samaz Dwara Ayojit Jann Akrosh Morcha at Variety Square Nagpur
A similar video had the caption: ‘Yahi toh Nagpur hai,’ posted on 10th December 2024.

We then ran a keyword, Sakal Hindu Samaj, Nagpur and found a video news report on ABP Maza News channel.
We also found a pre-event news report on the Times of India website.
We also found a gallery of pictures from the event on the Times of India website.
Currently, curfew is in place at several places in Nagpur, and no such events have taken place since the violence.
Conclusion: The viral claim is misleading. An old video of the Sakal Hindu Samaj gathering in Nagpur was shared as recent after the Nagpur violence.
