Lighthouse Journalism came across a video shared widely on social media platforms that claimed that things had already started taking place in Uttar Pradesh after the Waqf Act came into force. The video shows action being taken on a Madrasa in UP and claims that it was done after the Waqf Bill was passed.
During the investigation, we found that the video incident was from before the Waqf Bill was passed and it happened in Uttarakhand and not Uttar Pradesh.

X user Media5Zone News shared the viral video with the claim.
Other users are also sharing the same video with similar claims.
Investigation:
Some comments on the video mentioned that the video is from Uttarakhand.
We started the investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool, we obtained keyframes from the video and ran a reverse image search on the same.
We found a video posted on Facebook on 23rd March, 2025.
The caption stated that the video was from Uttarakhand.
The area mentioned in the video of the action was Tehsil Bhagwanpur.
We found two news reports about the same.
We found the video with visuals posted on YouTube 2 weeks ago.
Several other madrasas were sealed in Uttarakhand three weeks ago.
The Parliament passed the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2025 on April 4, 2025. The video predates the Waqf Bill.
Conclusion: Old video from Uttarakhand of the state sealing Madrasas operating without registration being shared as recent from Uttar Pradesh,as action taken after the Waqf Bill was passed. The viral claim is misleading.
