Baba Siddique, a prominent Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and a three-time former Bandra West MLA was gunned down on Saturday in Mumbai. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the murder later. Post this, several pictures of Devendra Fadnavis posters put up in Mumbai are being shared on social media platforms, stating that these posters stating, ‘Badla Pura!’ (Revenge completed) were seen in Mumbai after Baba Siddique’s death. During the investigation we found that the posters were installed at several places in Mumbai after the Badlapur encounter.
Claim:
X user and AAP leader Naresh Balyan shared the pictures on his handle.
Other users too are sharing the pictures with the same claim.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by a simple Google reverse image search on the images shared along with the claim.
We found a news report in Hindustan Times, published on September 26th, before leader Baba Siddique was shot dead.
The report stated: A day after leaders and workers of the Shiv Sena celebrated the killing of Akshay Shinde, the arrested accused in the Badlapur sexual assaults case, in a police encounter by bursting firecrackers, distributing sweets and crediting chief minister Eknath Shinde for delivering “natural justice”, the Bharatiya Janata Party appeared to try to one-up its ally.
The posters were put after the Badlapur encounter.
We also found reports on other media websites about the same incident.
Conclusion: Pictures of posters of Maharashtra deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis that went up overnight in Mumbai after the Badlapur encounter are being shared as recent after NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai.
