After the Nagpur riots last week, several videos are being shared on social media platforms linking it to Nagpur, either during the riots or after them. Lighthouse Journalism came across one such video, the caption of which said, ‘नागपुर में हिंदुओं का निर्णय’ (Decision of Hindus in Nagpur). In the video, the person says not to support others or do business with the other community. He is also heard asking the Hindus not to befriend Muslims.
During the investigation we found that the video is not from Nagpur. And not related to the recent riots. The viral claim is misleading.
Claim:
Facebook user Deva Nand Devraj shared the viral video on his profile.

Other users are sharing the same video.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool and ran a reverse image search on the same.
Through reverse image search we found a video uploaded on Facebook on 16th March, by user Sanjeev Bhati.

Translation: Rohit Gurjar was murdered in Delhi on 09 March 2025 by Jihadis living in Ghazipur Dairy Farm, in which the police still has a lax attitude. And the 4 main accused are out of police custody. Please all my 36 communities come forward to get justice for my brother Rohit. Place – Ghazipur village, Time – 12 o’clock. Date – 23 March, Day – Sunday
The live video was from 16th March, and the Nagpur violence took place on 17th March, 2025.
We also found a news report associated with Rohit Gurjar’s murder, related to which a Mahapanchayat too was organised in Gazipur.
Conclusion: An unrelated video from Ghazipur village was shared as recent from Nagpur linking it with the recent riots in the city. The viral claim is misleading.
