Fact check: Viral video of Salman Khan threatening Lawrence Bishnoi is AI made

Viral video where Bollywood actor Salman Khan is seen threatening Lawrence Bishnoi is made using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Viral claim is fake.

Recently, Bollywood actor Salman Khan received a fresh death threat claiming to be from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The gang has reportedly demanded ₹5 crore from the actor, escalating concerns for his safety. The threat was received on a WhatsApp number associated with Mumbai traffic police. Amidst this, a video featuring Khan allegedly threatening Lawrence Bishnoi was also found circulating on social media. Upon investigation, it was revealed that this video was fabricated using AI.

Claim:

X user Dhruv Rathee Parody shared the viral video on his social media profile.

Other users too are sharing the same video.

Investigation:

We started the investigation by observing the video first. The lip-sync appeared while observing the video which suggested that the video could be made using AI.

We then checked the video using a reverse image search on the screenshot from the video to determine the exact source of the clip.

This led us to a YouTube short where Salman Khan was seen in conversation with his brother Arbaaz Khan.

We then did a Google keyword search and reached the original interview between them.

The interview was uploaded on Qu Play three years ago.

Nowhere in the interview Salman was seen speaking about Lawrence Bishnoi.

We ran the audio file of the viral video through Resemble AI an AI detector and found the viral audio is fake.

Conclusion: Viral video where Bollywood actor Salman Khan is seen threatening Lawrence Bishnoi is made using Artificial Intelligence (AI). Viral claim is fake.
