Lighthouse Journalism found a video being widely shared on social media platforms, where it was seen that the US President Donald Trump was attacked by a man on stage while he was delivering a speech. During the investigation, we found that the viral video was edited and old.

Claim:

Instagram user Ana Ghadeeri Quiz shared the video on their platform.

Other users are sharing the video on their profiles.

Investigation:

We uploaded the video in the InVid tool and ran a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.

This video has been going around on social media since 2020.

We found the video posted nine years ago on the YouTube channel of CBS News.

The description said: Secret Service agents rushed to protect Donald Trump Saturday as a protester at his Vandalia, OH rally tried to climb on stage. Trump said he was “ready” to take him on but preferred to have security handle the disruption. Watch the video.

The man seen in the viral video was not seen in the original video, confirming that the viral video is edited.
