Amidst the ongoing spread of information on the social media platforms about the Iran and Israel conflict, Lighthouse Journalism found one more video being widely shared that was claimed to be from Israel. It was claimed along with the post that the video showcased Iranian strikes on Israel. During the investigation we found that the video is old and from a gas station explosion in Yemen. Viral claim is misleading.

Investigation:
We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on screenshots obtained from the video.
This led us to a video on YouTube posted a month ago. The text was titled: Aden, Yemen. Violent explosion at a gas station is reported.
We also found this video on another YouTube channel.
This too suggested that the video was from Yemen’s Aden province.
We then ran a Google keyword search on the available information and found a news report about the incident.
The report published last month said: An explosion at a gas station in Aden Governorate, southern Yemen, on Friday evening, resulted in multiple casualties, according to local sources. The explosion occurred on Al-Taseen Street in the Mansoura district, following a fire at the gas station. The blast was so powerful that it could be heard across various parts of the city.
We also found a Facebook reel posted by Onmanorama portal’s Facebook page.
The caption stated: A gas station was engulfed in flames in Mansoura district north of Yemen’s Aden province, after an unknown explosion. Source: AFP
We also found a video on the YouTube channel of The Free Press Journal.
Conclusion: Old video of explosion at a gas station at Aden, Yemen is now being shared as recent from Iran-Israel conflict. Viral claim is misleading.
