Fact check: Video from Myanmar shared claiming Indian chopper being shot in Manipur

A video is being widely shared on social media platforms, which shows a person shooting down what looks like a chopper or plane. It is being claimed that the Indian fighter helicopter was shot down by freedom fighters in Manipur. During the investigation we found that the video is from Myanmar and not Manipur as claimed.

Claim:

X user Mahin shared the viral video with a misleading claim.

Investigation:

We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the video.

Through this we found two posts on X stating that the video released shows Mi-24 attack helicopter of Myanmar Air Force being shot down by Kachin Independence Army (KIA) using MANPADS

Video was also shared by a journalist on X, stating the video was from Myanmar.

Several other X users too had shared the video informing that the video was from Myanmar when KIA shot down Junta helicopter.

PIB too had clarified in a post that the video is from Myanmar and not Manipur.

Conclusion: Video from Myanmar of a Mi-24 attack helicopter of Myanmar Air Force being shot down, is being shared as recent of an Indian helicopter being shot down in Manipur, India. Viral claims are false.
