Amidst the Iran – Israel conflict there are several videos and pictures that are being widely shared on social media. The video showed a tank that blew up further in the video. It was claimed along with the video that Hezbollah is preparing to dismantle Israeli Merkava tanks and sell them to a junk shop. But during the investigation we found that the video is not recent and rather related to the Russia and Ukraine war and not from the recent Iran and Israel conflict.
Claim:
X user voice of humans shared the viral video along with a misleading claim.
Other users too are sharing the same video with similar claims.
Investigation:
We started the investigation by uploading the video in the InVid tool and then ran a reverse image search on the keyframes obtained from the same.
We found a report that featured a screenshot from the viral video.
The report was published on February 3, 2024 and was titled: Ukraine’s forces blow up Russia’s modernized T-90MS tank
The report mentioned: The Ukrainian military released footage on Sunday showing what it said were successful strikes against the most modern tanks in Russian service. Ukrainian Soldiers from the 66th Mechanized Brigade destroyed the Russian T-90MS with an anti-tank guided missile (ATGM). In released aerial footage, a Russian tank went up in flames after being struck by direct hits from Ukrainian forces.
The modern Russian T-90MS tank can be easily identified by several visual differences, including a remotely operated weapon station on top, a 125 mm 2A46 smoothbore main gun, and bar-slat armor at the rear.

We also found a video uploaded on YouTube channel of Armed Forces Zone, 11 months ago.
The video was titled: Russian T-90M Tank explodes after Ukrainian ATGM strike.
We also found a few more posts on X regarding the same.
Conclusion: Old video from the Russia Ukraine war where Ukrainian soldiers destroyed Russian T-90MS with an anti-guided missile (ATGM) is being shared with misleading claims as recent from Iran – Israel conflict.
