Iran last night launched an unprecedented attack against Israel, firing a barrage of missiles at the country amid soaring tensions. Israel and its top ally, the USA said that their respective militaries worked together to shoot down most of the nearly 200 projectiles that were fired by Iran. Amidst this a video is being shared on social media platforms that shows Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu running. It was claimed that this was Netanyahu running towards a bomb shelter. During the investigation we found the video to be unrelated and old.

Investigation:

We started the investigation by running a reverse image search on the screenshots obtained from the video.

We found the screenshot of the video on a website kikar.co.il in a report that was published in 2021.

The report said (translation): During the night, during the vote on an explosives law that ultimately passed by a single vote, opposition leader Benjamin Netanyahu, who was staying in his room in the Knesset building, called for the Semitic vote and began running through the Knesset corridors in order to get there and vote (Knesset is Israel’s parliament).

It was then that we ran a Google keyword search to check the video on the internet.

We found a longer version of a video of Netanyahu running on his X handle.

The video was posted on 14 December, 2021.

We also found the video on other media websites.

Conclusion: Old video of Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu running in Israel’s parliament, the Knesset is being shared with claims of the video being recent from the night when Iran launched a missile attack on Israel. Viral claim is misleading.
